1. What are you currently reading?
2. What did you recently finish reading?
3. What do you think you’ll read next?
I’m currently reading An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson. This has been on my TBR for a while, and I’ve since bought Sorcery of Thorns which I’m really looking forward to.

This week I have read The Frozen Sea by Piers Torday, The Land of Roar by Jenny McLachlan, The Secret Dragon by Ed Clarke and two more books from my 20 Reads of Summer: Circe by Madeline Miller and Firefly: The Magnificent Nine by James Lovegrove. This takes me to 12 books from this list.
I hope to read The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu and Wakenhyrst by Michelle Paver.
Aaah mums got me a copy of Circe for my birthday!! I’m hoping to read Secret Dragon soon too!

Circe was very different to my usual read – she’s definitely a complex character but it was refreshing to read Greek mythology from a female perspective. The references to Greek myths were great of course.

I love the stories of Greek women and digging through the propaganda!! My degree was in Ancient History and I took all the courses I could in social history. I even used Circe in my dissertation and argued about the misogyny in Greek society especially the writers that would have used her to further promote the Athenian way by villainising the antithesis such as Circe and Medea.
It’s amazing I haven’t read this before to be fair. It will feel like going back in time for me!!

I can’t believe you haven’t read this! You so need to – although you’ll definitely bring a different perspective to it with your background – I’d be really interested to hear what you think of it!

I’ve been aware of it but I just didn’t think to get it. I think I’ve come through a fog the last six months or so and starting to think maybe I need to embrace all my edges and ancient history/mythology is a huge part of me that I put in a box for a long time.

Circe has been on my TBR forever and I’ve still not gotten around to reading it … oops! Can I just say The Frozen Sea, The Land of Roar and The Secret Dragon have GORGEOUS covers!

I had Circe on my TBR for ages, but I’d put it on my 20 Books of Summer Challenge to encourage me to read more than middle grade books! I really enjoyed it – posting review soon. So many middle grade books have gorgeous covers – these were all done by Ben Mantle.
