I’m slowly reading The Second Sight of Zachary Cloudesley which I’m really enjoying. I’m listening to Shadowblack which is just the kind of book I loved in my twenties, so it’s great to find this series as it’s one I’ll definitely want to finish.

Being back at school has really impacted on my reading, but I did manage to finish The Whisperling which I enjoyed. I will be posting my review on the Blog Tour next week.

I didn’t get to this one last week, so I’m hoping to get to it at the weekend.
What are you reading? Have you read any of these?
I haven’t read any of these! I’ve heard the Spellslinger books feel a bit pratchetty but swearier – how accurate is that?!
Hope back to school is going well and you had a good summer!x

I’ve had a wonderful summer. Enjoying teaching my Year 6 class! I’ve only read a couple of Pratchett books, but I wouldn’t make a connection between them and the Spellslinger books. They remind me more of Feist’s Magician (from my distant recollection), Eddings The Belgariad or the Firefly TV series. They’re definitely sweary, but I’m finding them really addictive. They’re written from a 16 year old’s viewpoint, so I’m definitely not the target audience – I think they take me back to the fantasy books I loved years ago so a bit of nostalgia for me. I love the dialogue and the squirrel-cat is ridiculously brilliant. They’re keeping me great company on the drive to and from work!

I don’t know any of the books you compare them too, but I might give the audiobook a go as they do sound fun!
