Most Haunted Hotels is the fourth book in this terrifyingly spooky series, and this time world-famous ghost hunter, Yvette Fielding, is taking her paranormal investigative team to spend the night at hotels whose guests have never checked out.
I absolutely loved this collection of paranormal investigations where Yvette shares with the reader her spine-chilling experiences when invited to spend the night at some of the UK’s most haunted hotels – and one in Colorado, the inspiration for The Shining.
Each hotel visit begins with its history, followed by details of the hauntings, the investigation and a Did You Know? section. I thought that this format really helps to ground the book in reality, making the investigations feel genuinely scary as they are based on historical information and others’ experiences before the team begin their own investigation.
Yvette writes about her experiences in such an authentic and friendly manner that she makes the seemingly unbelievable absolutely plausible – and all the more scary, especially as the reader can feel the team’s fear! Be prepared for some truly terrifying supernatural guests including smugglers, witches, murderous landlords and even royalty. Unexpected sights and sounds, darkness, and objects moving of their own accord all make this a wonderfully unsettling, eerie read. It certainly sent shivers down my spine.
The illustrations of the hotels, their ghostly guests and the investigative team are absolutely superb and really bring the genuine sense of spookiness and fear together.
A deliciously dark and spooky season treat awaits readers of 10+, if they dare check in at these most haunted hotels.
